Currently, some users are occasionally seeing a message in the Matrix client Element or in their browser stating that there is no internet connection. If this happens, please clear the cache of Element Desktop/Web:

  1. Select “Quick Settings” (the gear icon at the bottom of the left sidebar) or your avatar, and then go to “All Settings”.
  2. Select the “Help and Info” tab.
  3. In the “Advanced” section, click the “Clear Cache and Reload” button.

Element Desktop without session

If you are already logged out and there is no active Matrix session in Element - in other words, if you see the login screen - you can clear the cache by deleting the cache folder:

Windows: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Element
You can copy the path %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming, paste it into the address bar of Windows Explorer, and press Enter. Then delete the Element folder in that directory.

Linux: ~/.config/Element
