▲ This issue is not resolved yetUpdate, 27-Aug-2026: To ensure that GRUB is reliably installed on the system hard drive during future updates, please follow the instructions in the FAQ article: Avoiding an Endless Reboot Loop After a GRUB Update on VMs with Multiple Hard Drives.
Updating the grub-pc software package on older Debian 12 VMs with BIOS firmware may cause a bootloop in some cases.
The issue occurs after the first reboot. If this happens, please submit a ticket to the Service Desk.
If other VMs are potentially affected but are not yet in the reboot loop (because they have not been restarted since the update), reinstall the GRUB boot loader as a precaution using the following command:
grub-install /dev/
Replace with the device name of the boot disk, for example, /dev/sda.\
