Currently, some users are seeing the following error message in Element Desktop for Windows:

These notifications can be avoided by turning off the message search feature:
- Open “All Settings”
- Select the “Security & Privacy” tab
- In the “Message search” section, select “Manage”
- Confirm by selecting “Disable”
- If the process takes too long, restarting the Element app may help.

Alternatively, you can use Element Web at matrix.tu-dresden.de. As always, please keep the following points in mind:
- Always use more than one active Matrix session, for example on your smartphone.
- Enable the key storage and keep the recovery key in a safe place. Verify every new session.
- Never clear your browser’s entire cache while you have a Matrix session open.
