Network connection

from Monday, December 15, 2025 8:00 am till Monday, December 15, 2025 12:00 pm

On December 15, 2025, starting at 10 a.m., a network bandwidth limitation will be introduced in our virtualization environments.
The aim of this measure is to increase the stability of the overall infrastructure, ensure fair resource distribution, and avoid peak loads.
The standard bandwidth limit is 2 Gbit/s per virtual network adapter. For short data transfers of up to 10 GiB, this limit can be temporarily exceeded up to 4 Gbit/s.
Based on our performance metrics, we have already identified VMs that regularly have increased network requirements. These systems have been proactively assigned a higher bandwidth limit.
The limits currently assigned to your VMs will soon be visible in the Self-Service-Portal for VM management in the Enterprise Cloud and Research Cloud.
Until this information is available, you can inquire about your assigned limit via the Service Desk (servicedesk@tu-dresden.de) if necessary - especially if you suspect performance issues.
